Die Seitenabweiser sorgen für eine gleichmäßige Bearbeitung des Feldes und verhindern die Bildung von Erdhügeln an der Kreuzung der ersten und zweiten Überfahrt. In Arbeitsstellung muss der Abweiser immer in Kontakt mit der Feldoberfläche sein, um ihn nicht zu beschädigen oder seine Funktion einzuschränken. Er sollte um etwa 10 mm zurückgesetzt sein.
